LA Times notes FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski stepping down; says mediocre tenure at best.
That’s the opinion of many, including this observer. So much needed to be done, so little was accomplished.
Today, the few giant Telecoms control over internet access has increased dramatically, including mobile; there’s ongoing broadband access and cost issues; issues of streaming video becoming a throttled market with artificially inflated costs; and all media being folded into mega-lopolies that include cable, tv, movies radio, web AND streaming…all seem none the better for having Obama’s handpicked FCC chairman at the helm.
What’s next for this extremely important post? Can we hope for anything better? If par for the course, Genachowski will move into a top job at AT+T, or head up a big telecom supported lobbying group to affect FCC policy going forward.
