Speedtest data for New Mexico is available here.
Data for Las Cruces is interesting:
1) LC is #9 in the state for average Download speed (below Farmington and Silver City as well as Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Los Alamos). LC is #5 in upload.
2) LC has the most expensive internet of the 4 cities reported – 10% higher than Santa Fe.
3) Comcast is the most truthful major NM ISP in actual versus advertised speeds.
My neighborhood, Comcast in Las Cruces, (and perhaps other NM areas?) started transitioning to Docsis 3.0 in April 2013. I would expect that few users presently in that process of upgrading have actually accessed via Docsis 3.0 for theses tests, as one needs a new cable modem installed to get the higher speeds.
There is also a couple or three tiers of service with Comcast, higher cost= more bandwidth. The recent upgrade advertised a doubling of speeds; however, not necessarily available for lower cost tiers. Have no idea what % of Las Cruces comcast users buy the top tiers of internet service.
I do, in a bundle, which is a whole other set of issues. I got my modem working just within the last week or so. Downloads today at my house rate at circa 50Mbps and uploads around 8 Mbps.
