The narrowing of control of high speed internet access is a very worrisome ongoing development for anyone who hopes, as PSA does, for more affordable access, and more net neutrality open to new service providers, not less.
According to this, theres very little chance congress will act to classify monopoly coaxial cable access as “common carrier”, or support FCC if they do so. But FCC will have at least a decision to make one way or the other, so it’s not quite “over” yet.
Susan Crawford, the person being interviewed above, is mentioned in this story below as one of several qualified people that Obama “might have” appointed to head FCC, instead of the former Cable Co lobbyist whom he did appoint (Wheeler). (Powell, the former head of FCC is now doing that Cable Co lobbyist job)

Maybe there will be an effort to organize support on a national level for FCC to designate Cable internet access as “common carrier” and maybe PSA can find a way or role to support such an effort, following any guidelines that exist for what a 501c3 can and cannot do, of course.
