The commercial, and then the second youtube shows how it was done. While clearly some aspects of this are beyond “Garage Filmaking”, such as creating a monkey ground up from anatomy and getting the fur right…motion capture doesn’t require a lot of space, and might be feasible. TBD on that. Kudos to Margot for link.

Apparently a Microsoft Xbox with a “Kinect” sensor $200? and some $200 software…does some level of motion capture.
From Wikipedia:
Kinect can track up to 6 skeletons at once. It can also detect a player’s heart rate, facial expression, the position and orientation of 25 individual joints (including thumbs), the weight put on each limb, speed of player movements, and track gestures performed with a standard controller.
