Why would PSA be interested in the cable series creator of Mad Men, Matthew Weiner, and his thoughts on screenwriting? Because construction of quality narrative is an essential part of a quality DLE and screenwriting is one of the fields where narrative is king.

Screenwriting is just one form of narrative construction, along with novels, plays, short stories, opera, stand up comedy, political campaigns, advertising, and plain old “story telling” with friends or family. But the tricks of the trade (the art) apply across the board. Characters and roles, story arcs, dialogue, drama, pace, catharsis, denouement, are just some of the elements a writer needs to master, and make work on behalf of the story.

We too are interested in the art of using narrative elements to accomplish the goals of,  in this case, the DLE designer and producer and collaborative learning.

(The Paris Review interviews of writers on their art has a very long tradition of great questions and answers of the top writers in the world. Goes back as far as Hemingway, iirc.)
