As the ed tech transformation rolls on, funding sources and methods change to account for what are seen to be the best opportunities, as noted in the NY Times article below, and the accompanying chart below. (note the big China ed tech funding)

Public financing also plays an important play in funding ed tech research, and trial runs, including potentially huge contracts nationwide. Decisions by local school districts or state educational departments can greatly affect not only funding, but what becomes a standard.  FBOW.

Alas, this “public funding” part of the ed tech development and implementation story often “runs behind” current trends and state of the art, and it’s machinations can be quite opaque.
