Story in The Guardian about a drone based internet access experimental project underway at the NM Spaceport. Lots of details about what the story says were at least partly, and formerly, secrets. Begs the question about who tipped them off to research this and leak it to The Guardian.

But more importantly we learn there’s significant research ongoing in our SNM backyard that could lead to at least some competition for entrenched telecoms and Comcast, and if things go very well, perhaps actual affordable access for DAC.

Hoping Google decides to run a test pilot project here, and build it out in DAC. Just like “Starry” is doing a build out in Boston. One of the big advantages of having the open space, and the spaceport, is that it’s a plus for these kinds of experiments and projects that, if they crash, will crash on desert or possibly a steer, and not on people or buildings.

BTW, see if you can spot the dead give away that the story was written by someone in England. Hint: has to do with what we would call a “truck”. Thanks to Gary for the link.
