Legislation has been introduced this session of the NM Legislature to offer a tax incentive connected with broadband infrastructure. Hard to know if specific bills that are introduced stand a real chance of being passed, and also NOT vetoed by the governor, and the article below doesn’t really describe how the incentive would work.
Not sure what other states might be doing to incentivize broadband infrastructure, so we need more information on the role state government can play in improving access and speeds and costs for broadband. Or maybe we need Google to get more involved in testing various broadband approaches here in NM. Or both.
