Online video took a very long time to mature into a ubiquitous technology that hundreds of millions use every day around the world. There was a steady if gradual improvement in resolution and frame rate and bit rate, starting from the very humble early days of quicktime video which was the size of a postage stamp onscreen.

The potential was obviously there…enough to speculate about future uses… but few imagined the kind of computer power and speed of connectivity that has made mobile online video so robust and accessible as it is today in our YouTube environs.

We’ve similarly been tracking development of VR and AR technology for years, and while the wait for mature versions has been ongoing, many have previously predicted it was just around the corner…”real soon now”, Here’s another one of those “we are just on the cusp of mass adoption VR” articles which, at some point, will turn out to be true, presumably.
