A news release has been quoted describing how LCPS is providing thousands of laptops to students who don’t have.

To prepare for the start of the district’s distance learning, the Las Cruces Public School District has distributed thousands of laptops and school supplies to kids and parents in need. KVIA reports that the district said there are 4,500 students without a laptop, 3,500 without a tablet or IPad and about 1,700 who do not have access to the internet.

Note that there is numeration of the needs, but not numeration of who is getting what, and what “providing” means. Loans, gifts? “Thousands of laptops” sounds like a major initiative. But does that mean every student is now “covered” and ready to participate in LFH initiative?

LCPS has taken a “lets get our LFH act together first” before starting it for the students now sheltering at home. Which makes some sense as we’ve read here on this site about the chaos that results from just throwing the teachers and students and parents into the pool…and yelling “Swim!!”. So it will be of note how the LCPS Plans actually work, when they get started.
