Last Wednesday, CampusLogic raised $120 million in what was then the biggest funding round for a U.S. edtech company in 2020. Two days later, Coursera raised $130 million, fueled by a spike in demand for its online courses after campuses closed in the spring. - Discovery Education, a Charlotte, N.C.-based provider of K-12 digital curriculum and professional learning services, has acquired Spiral, a London-based developer of a formative assessment platform. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
- Docsity, a Turin, Italy-based provider of an online note-sharing platform for students has acquired two edtech companies abroad: Koofers, a Blacksburg, Va.-based college professor-rating platform, and Estudar com Você, a São Paulo, Brazil-based online video learning library. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
- Rah Rah, a New York-based startup behind a campus-engagement platform for college students, has raised $2.8 million in a seed round from Dave Duffield and Phil Wilmington (respectively, co-founder and vice chairman of Workday.)
- Teleteachers, a Chicago-based provider of remote special education services, has raised $2.7 million in a Series A round led by Seyen Capital’s Senior Managing Director George Spencer and Jerry Putnam.
- Udemy, which raised $50 million earlier this year at a $2 billion valuation, is reportedly seeking to raise new funding at a $3 billion valuation, according to The Information.
- UWill, a Boston-based startup that connects college students with mental health professionals, has raised $3.25 million in a seed round led by Darryl McDaniels (of hip-hop group Run DMC fame).
- Yellowdig, a Philadelphia-based developer of an online community engagement and social learning platform for higher-ed institutions, has raised $1.5 million in a bridge roundfrom SustainVC, Spring Point Capital, Musketeer Capital, and Ben Franklin Technology Partners.
