Public Education in the US has been “in crisis” over the last half century or so for many reasons . School integration brought many challenges of, as this article terms it, epic proportion.. Lagging performance relative to other countries has been ongoing, and schools in poor areas have been consistently much “worse”.
There’s the crises of the last ten years where affordable bandwidth has been missing for many students, and the advancement toward best online learning capabilities slow to arrive, at best. Absent at worst.
This article spells out more concerns, some of which are directly tied to the pandemic, It is unclear at this point how much of learning/ teaching in America will return to pre-pandemic realities, and how much will be permanently different.
