Charter schools are currently tasked with implementing “new ways” of learning, and they come in a wide variety of forms in different school districts across the nation. In NM, the recently concluded Legislative session passed a law (HB 43)  providing access to capital for charter school capital improvements.

As noted in the very recent post on “funding for change in education”, at least some of needed learning changes will be driven by local initiatives and experiments.

Below is a story about how such funding might be used for a charter school in Deming NM, presently serving a wide cross-section of students needing special programs. It turns out the new HB 43 law covers a lot more than just a revolving capital improvement fund; see the full bill as passed also below.
