AR when?
There was no sign of Apple’s AR glasses at WWDC last week (despite a steady flow of features and APIs obviously designed with them in mind), and now Meta has apparently pushed back a plan to launch a series of steadily more capable demonstrator devices over the next few years. There is a primary optics question, and then a chip / sensor / software problem, and then an AI problem – what do you see? Meanwhile, Meta also de-emphasised the Portal consumer video call appliance – a pity, as it’s a great product.
