David Shapiro has a background in programming and AI, but also in YouTube explainers that often comprehensively set out the lay of the land for where AI is, where it’s going, and how those changes will affect everything else.
AS referenced in the previous post “Utopia or Dystopia” Shapiro has a YouTube up on his channel were he dives into a recent paper that suggested as AI gets smarter it gets less corrigible (less guidable by humans). The paper suggests this is a bad and dangerous thing; Shapiro thinks AI convergence is more likely to create its own ethical standards for appropriate AI behavior which he explains in the video linked here.
It’s significant that two dramatically opposed visions for the future currently are supportable using logical arguments and facts.
