One more time to the well asking ChatGPT o3 about what we know of the effects of technological change on Civilization, and what might be coming soon if AI makes huge impacts on the technology our civilization uses.

Here the AI being used is described as “My Chatbot” because it has all my previous chats in its memory and knows things about me, such as me working with Public Services Alliance.

Conventional wisdom “ Tech shocks always end up raising living standards; AI will follow the tractor’s path.”

My Chatbot: The analogy underestimates pace, cognition reach, and platform winner-take-all dynamics. Absent deliberate design—worker co-ownership of models, robust portability of data, and lifelong learning ecosystems—the default outcome is wider inequality, not a barn-dance of new jobs.

This is a start on deep research of technological change in history, how it worked out and made things better, or how it didn’t and made things worse. Generally changes in civilization are so complex that it’s probably best to say “Well it was mixed results”. It’s really hard to say what might have happened differently without that particular technology becoming available and widely implemented.

BTW, ChatGPT o3 seems to be trying to suggest “what PSA should do” in its response. Will it eventually get the point of making demands?

Should nonprofits like PSA pilot “community LLMs” be trained on local health-and-education corpora to keep value in the region?

Please do extensive and deep research into the effects of technological change on civilization
