IBM’s big push in Mobile is addressed in this PC World blog.
Regarding the comment on developing Apps in Javascript. There is a big difference between developing an App in Javascript and and having Javascript enabled in your browser – the Apps will not run in the browser.
As you might expect, IBM is big on security.
Thx for clarification…what I think you just said: there’s apps and there’s browsers, and java script as app= good, because it’s cross platform…and java script running in your browser = problematic.
Yep – developing for all the connected devices (there are a lot more than iOS and Android, think connected TVs, Roku, etc. etc.) is a HUGE pain.
I am not close enough to say that Javascript is the right answer – alternatives are spring up in the form of “mobile development platforms” like Appcelerator.com.
The Javascript proble we hear all the time is based on the fact that Javascripting is enabled in the browser and when you go to a “bad” web site, they can then, via the browserr, run applications on you computer. The mobile App , written in Javascript, would not be doing web surfing.
