We do want to enable gamification of our site.
There are a number of tools that might support this. One is Poll Daddy, which I made some initial progress with setting up, but ran into a few bugs or issues, and had to put aside for later to “finish” getting it setup right and working.
A poll survey quiz or “rating” can be fun, and humorous, and very much like a game.
It would be good if we got this working. At some point in that process, maybe someone other than John could be our Poll Daddy, or Survey Monkey etc etc expert or “the one who does it”…. we are limited by our website “staff” size at the moment. Stuff we’d like to do, that will take a lot longer unless we have more people working on the pile of to dos.
Maybe there’s a former NMSU OTL grad out there who would like to work/play with us? For example there’s Katie O’Connor up in Grants, but there must be others. Should we consult with Suzie Q on any likely leads she might have for us to follow up on?
Remember to point out to Susie that we do not pay people. We are looking for volunteers that love life long learning. We can use all the expert knowledge and skills we can find.
You’re preaching to the choir on this one Kris… we will always try to find capable volunteers with spare time and energy, and those who enjoy the work and don’t need recompense. Hopefully they’re out there and we just haven’t found them or done a good enough job looking or recruiting. We’ve come close a few times.
But clearly, they aren’t easy to locate. We have already more or less decided we might pay certain people for certain things under certain circumstances: Judiciously. And we’ll always work together to make those decisions jointly, two minds better than one.
But we (I) do need help. From someplace. I’m happy enough doing the work, that’s not a problem. But I’m redlining at times over here at 600 Dyne, as to how many RPM I can handle day in day out … I can do it in bursts of a few months, but ….then need a more manageable pace for the longer term.
We are getting ready to do even more, lots of exciting projects and work we want to accomplish. Our opportunities to do cool stuff are “overflowing”.
You are a very hard worker, but also not full time day in day out. Someone pointed out that most lean startups are 5 or so people.
Maybe we’ll solve this challenge with a new approach, or get lucky…
Adding polls, likes, social media links are all valuable for later. Perhaps just keep a list of what we would like to add for now. I think balance is always the solution for the two of us. We get engaged and progress ahead. Rest and go again. The best we can do with two of us.
We could use social media to request assistance within our own contact networks. I have FaceBook, Google +, Linked In, and Twitter networks. How about you?
I tried Skills Page and I did receive a response from someone not in my networks. I didn’t follow up since I don’t trust it…maybe spam. Anyway, IMO social media in our own networks may help us come up with some volunteers. Probably best to invite them to view our website when it is ready…soon I think. I see sharing our information as useful to our contacts, not promotion.
Don’t burn out. Do what you can and keep your balance:) If it not fun, stop! Go to Spring Training and see Felix the King!
