Gary,
Tonight for some reason, maybe the Brill article…I’m feeling strongly kind of deja vu re your upset about middle class sliced up like a roast pig since, well, what Nixon, and that Obama got re-elected but not much of what was bothering you has changed…
well, except that Higher Education is “wanting to be free”…that’s something.
To restate what you were stating last summer so heartfelt and bummer-ized: What a nightmare for kids these days to wake up to. It’s like US was sacked by the Visigoths. (been watching the history channel) An empire hollowed out from the inside. Apparently there is a book called Vandals at the Gates of Medicine…and we had Barbarians at the Gates earlier…
Rant rant rant rant…. feel like a clueless dweeb… or the sucker at the table. Guess that’s what you were feeling so strongly last year. Taking it personally… of course doesn’t help, much. =^)
OTOH, the future is not ours to see.
Not that I’m comfortable advocating complacency. There are some positive trends bubbling up from Lean Startup mania….which for all I know could find a way to take over healthcare someday… enabling personal power to make markets where now there’s monopoly for health services? The so called “Health Exchanges” could be someplace to wedge open via cloud and data point and algorithm power… maybe…
