Considering the level of useful application that Vanderbilt wants to “get” from applicants, the prizes are few and minimal. One way to accumulate intellectual property. Have a contest, and “own the entries”.
Interesting, as health care really does have a huge “learning” component. One needs to learn the disease, the treatment, the medications, how to make care choices, insurance choices, lifestyle changes, and adjust family life to cope etc etc.
The drum I’ve been beating for a while now is that learning is learning, wherever it is done, and all the more so using communication tools such as online apps. What works for education, also works for healthcare and vice versa.
Nice catch Kris. The obvious point being that many are trying to figure out how to support learning in various contexts using new tools, and for a time, no one is the expert as a large portion of it is new to everyone.
