I guess we all miss Steve Jobs vision for the next really great thing…but Bezos just bought the Washington Post for reasons some see as visionary.
And another article from FastCompany on other things Bezos is “up to”. In the digital world, and in the cloud, Bezos realizes doing one thing well, might enable a company to do another thing well, in what had formerly been thought to be a completely different business or a different part of the economy altogether.
Which is somewhat along the lines of how if learning is enabled in one part of the cloud, it can be enabled in many other parts of the cloud for what had formerly been kept apart and unconnected in silos.
Advertising companies suddenly know a lot of what is needed to design and develop online courses… one example among many.
Schmidt published his “The New Digital Age” book this spring, and Google continues to innovate at what appears to be a very “fast rate”, throwing all kinds of stuff up against the wall too numerous to even mention, but much that shows great promise, or at minimum continues to lead us toward new solutions to present problems.
