Story on efforts to promote local video production working with city of Las Cruces. Two pages from the paper version: HERE, and second page HERE.
Efforts presently orbiting around the “film liaison” position the city funded but is currently not filled. But there’s a lot of other potential opportunities in video production, as we have been discussing re Multitasking de Ville.
(Gary kudos for finding this)
One starts to imagine some form of “anchor tenant”…that may be tangentially connected with City…as is in the PPT on Multitask de Ville proposal.
One also wonders what is the status of city hall, which has a nice “studio space” and a lot of meeting and office spaces. And a nice location. I’ve lost track on what that building is being slated for. Last I heard, maybe to be sold to Bank(s)…or traded as property for the BankWest drive through plot on Main.
I called WESST , Community Enterprise Center in Las Cruces and talked with Jo Ann Garay. We discussed the video studio at the WESST site in ABQ. Las Cruces WESST hopes to benefit from remote use of the ABQ studio.
I asked about the local need for video production and she believed clients go to ABQ. Jennifer Craig, the Regional Manager for WESST, Las Cruces, will call to discuss the need for video production in Las Cruces. The Las Cruces phone number for WESST is 575-541-1583
The person to contact for more information about the ABQ studio is Russ Combs, Managing Director at 505-246-6930.
good work Kris. Maybe Russ can give me some particulars on their “level of video production” equipment…and some ballpark numbers for costs.
