Here is a post from Julia Parra about a new organization and a 1st annual conference on May 20, 2015. The conference will tell us what is new in New Mexico Higher Education with distance, online and blended learning. The new non profit organization is a state chapter of USDLA. The conference is free and is all online according to the conference information. I added the conference date to the PSA calendar, and I plan to attend.
Seems the focus is higher ed professors, and maybe thus higher ed DLE? Presently seems to not have “outsiders” in the group, but maybe that’s just for starters.
One guess is that their purpose of having a 501c3 is to be legal for using grants for projects.
This event takes place just about the time I’m getting back from my west coast trip, but I would like to attend online as well, We’ll see. This could be a group that PSA can partner with for a project someday.
Not sure why they use “distance learning” instead of the more common today “online learning”…
