It is hard to fathom how this will work out well for public education in Nevada. Parents can take the money that would normally go to public schools and give it to the ITT Educations of the world or perhaps just take the money and run.

I never cease to be amazed at the level of commitment to dismantle the US Public Education system. It has worked really well with prisons, of course, and schools do have much in common. If the prison analogy holds, we may see a 10 fold increase in student enrollment.
A family I know in Washington State chooses to home school their five kids. The family sign ed something to opt out of following the State requirements and curriculum. They take full responsibility for their kids education. I do not believe they receive any compensation for this choice. I also have a niece in Washington choosing home schooling for her three kids and she is following the State requirements so she receives support as well as curriculum. States must vary in how they handle opting out of public education.
