Eduventures is out with their annual report on Higher Ed retention rates. They call it “Student Success Ratings”.
Their MO includes a number of presumptions and assumptions about what should be counted, and what “expectations of retention” should have been…compared to what the numbers actually show occurred. So understanding this “ranking” involves a lot of fine print. FWIW, UTEP comes out very highly rated, and NMSU notably lower, but better than UNM. Probably most interesting for stimulating thinking about all the factors involved in higher ed retention than the ratings themselves.
It’s good that someone is paying detailed retention to this aspect of learning…because in a way it’s a measure of how well educational institutions are matching up with the needs of their student body.
