Film/video production facilities have been advancing in New Mexico and  Las Cruces. (digital video has replaced celluloid but we still often call it “Film”). Film Production requires physical locations such as studios and sound stages, as well as a well-trained and accomplished support system from producers to “talent” to crew, and quality equipment and editing suites. But with digital video today, costs for the lower end of production values have become much more affordable, and the need for video has burgeoned in our cloud video world.

There’s a spectrum of costs and facilities needed from the full-scale “Hollywood” type production, to mid range local and regional productions, to mom and pop level productions to YouTube and Selfie-Stick productions.

PSA is a strong advocate of increasing production capabilities in southern New Mexico, and elsewhere, for the lower end of production budgets, such as schools/ teachers or medical centers/ doctors might engage with. One specific hope is that PSA can collaborate with others on just such a “lower costs” facility within the next year or two.
