This article describes how Google and Ascension, a medical system of 150 hospitals, plan to transform the delivery of health care.  Google will store and analyze Ascension patient data in a cloud computing platform to improve patient care. Will Google use the data for any purpose other than providing tools for Ascension medical providers?  Leveraging technology to improve obviously needed public services brings more questions then solutions at this time.

What would seem like a move in the right direction in health care, remains in conflict with federal privacy laws.  HIPPA dictates how doctors , and health care system, and business associates handle identifiable patient data.

Google’s efforts to require machines to learn by analyzing a vast array of Ascension health records also gives Google access to identifiable data,  and may not comply with HIPPA.
