This is a sort of odd duck and only available for students who win a lottery for access. It’s online learning using computers, but not at home, in what is described as a safe place, with all the usual covid protective practices ongoing. It’s not at a school, but it is doing “school work”.

One might deduce that this is an attempt to help students whose home environment is lacking for online learning… for one reason or another. One could also see here a sort of model for community schools of the future. Except one possibly run by the city, not the school district. Would that make sense? We’ve had school districts for so long, we might have a hard time imagining a reality where they didn’t exist, at least not in their current form.

Of course there’s a serious problem here as those who “lose the lottery” have nonetheless the same needs that would then go unaddressed.
