With a new administration, there will be some changes in FCC policy regarding the Digital Divide, and other issues of Affordable Access. As the below article indicates, some of the FCC matters require approval by the Senate, such as nominations and funding measures. As of this writing the Senate could be controlled by either party come Jan. 20th 2021.
Yet the article, which does have a Democratic Party lean in, does attempt a broad look at what changes might be coming, and raises some hopes for more affordable and more broadly available internet access. That couldn’t be more important while we live through the coming first roll-outs of vaccine, perhaps not broadly distributed throughout US until mid 2021, and contemplate what forms education will manifest post pandemic as well.
