The Institute for the future started in 1968 as a Silicon Valley based research and learning group to build understanding of “Futures Thinking”. The practice of “futures thinking” helps build foresight by “looking back at where we were to see where we are going”.
Alvin Toffler the “futurist” and writer of Future Shock discussed the importance of awareness of technology and the impacts worldwide. This article on the “future of work” demonstrates how looking back at work when it was time based is a strategy for foresight in understanding how work is task based today.
