As OpenAI releases its version of web search, one of the biggest components of online economics, there’s research showing that AI can do the shopping for us. Or at least help. And AI probably makes as many hallucinatory orders as humans, where as I know from personal experience, ordering a delivery cross country of fresh lobster for a friend, can easily go awry.
The larger point is that AI is currently wondering what the killer app might be that drives adoption, and shopping might be it. Although help navigating the health care morass in the US might be a close second.
