The infographic below provided by KnowledgeOne, a commercial e-learning business , details some of the latest and emerging trends in 2013 as they relate to elearning for organizations using an LMS.
PSA seems to be looking in the trending direction according to the trends mentioned in the infographic: gamification, interactivity, mobile technology, HTML5, MOOCs, and web responsiveness on multiple devices.
A SLC is not mentioned as a trend for 2013 for an LMS. My guess, PSA is ahead of the game in noticing a missing element in e-learning…how to integrate an effective SLC into a DLE. Perhaps the evolving MOOC design may give us some answers.
Tech Master: I could not remember how to embed the infographic in the post. Please advise on the process using the tool bar. Thank you.
using the Tiny MCE, select the first icon on the left in the bottom row. This is for inserting images into a post. If you have already uploaded the image to our PSA media library, copy and paste the file’s URL (not the permalink) into the URL box in the insert window. voila.
I’m doing this one for you, but as a tip: if you forget how to do something, you can find a post where it is done, click on edit the post, and then examine what’s there in front of you and you may recall how it is done by looking at it, or editing it some more.
John,
I added your tech tip on inserting images in a post to the “tech tips”. Having tech tips in a curated location will help me the next time I have the issue in a timely manner.
In my experience, I would also prefer to fix the post myself since then I would remember how to do it. Thanks for the tip!
OK, I’ll take the image out and you can do it yourself.
Practice is a good thing… I tend to forget tech details if I don’t use them regularly. Worried that I don’t remember some of the things I already figured out about how to admin our site… so I can relate.
Also welcome you posting it as a “Tech Tip”. I should have thought of that, glad you did.
For an “outsider” like me, the PSA site needs a readily accessible list of acronyms.
I have forgotten (if I ever knew”) what SLC stands for and when I did a search, I found a long list of usages, but gave up before I found the definition.
social learning construct (SLC)
dynamic learning plan (DLP)
defined learning experience (DLE)
That’s pretty much it for the acronyms that are sui generis to PSA… AFAIK.
Gary,
On the PSA website, click on the menu topic “Learning Today”. You will find PSA core concepts. Social Learning Construct (SLC) is a PSA core concept that we want to develop. You will find other core concepts such as Dynamic Learning Plan (DLP), and Defined Learning Experience (DLE).
