As per Kris suggestion: here’s a clip from StarTrek season one, episode 29 (according to Netflix) which mentions someone circa 2030 writing a narrative where “Let me help” takes precedence of place over “I love you”. Linked here as a part of the package of “service as learning” and group acceptance and similar functions in a SLC.
And of course because it’s fun to look at Joan Collins and Capt Kirk from 1967 for a few seconds. Not that I’m a “trekkie” but this episode “The Town on the Edge of Tomorrow” is said to be revered as one of the better shows in the canon. This clip is about 21:04 in.
(admin: couldn’t fit the video into the normal sized post page, so it’s in a separate page. Also, after doing a screen capture of the clip, I then converted it from a .mov file to a m4v file at about 10% of the size so it can fit under the 64MB file limit for WP uploads)
Thanks for the tech tip for doing a screen capture of a video clip. Will videos in Prezi be a burden for mobile learner access?
The concept, using video clips connected to the narrative is motivating. I’m looking forward to checking out the movie “Silver Linings” for further examples of a successful Social Learning Construct (SLC).
