Here’s an “editorial” that represents John’s POV on overcoming a challenging environment for 21st Century Learning Tools. Editorials need followup with practical suggestions, and plans; just pointing out a problem, while important, is fairly useless without followthrough.
We are a land of many editorials; but actual change is dramatically more difficult by an order of magnitude. It may be that our present era comes to resemble some of the other extremely challenging periods of American history, and requires the same sort of stoic ability to do “what is necessary” despite stiff odds that was demanded of our forbearers.
Not to be alarmist or anything.
I listened to the Democratic Gov candidates and while some sounded remotely like “my tribe”, no one offered anything close to a compelling vision of productive change in our state – only variations of business as usual.
We live in a desert and the ranks of leadership here are deserted.
Innovation is frequently driven by desperation.
If “politics” describes how we talk with each other, I wonder if we all have an opportunity to improve the communication process.
