AI as practice support is promising. AI as substitute staffing is dangerous.
The risk is not that Khan Academy is openly claiming teachers should be replaced. It is saying the opposite. The risk appears when school systems under cost pressure treat AI-supported practice as a reason to thin human support, delay intervention, or normalize lower-touch service models.
That is why the governance discussion has to happen before the workflow becomes routine.

Khan Academy’s responsible AI framework is a useful starting point because it includes educational goals, equity, privacy, transparency, accountability, informed participation, and human oversight. But local implementation is the test. Principles only matter if they survive procurement, training, classroom pressure, and budget pressure.
