Any comprehensive US Healthcare Reform needs to work with ALL the stakeholders.

American Healthcare is deeply embedded in various aspects of government, including Federal, State, and Local legislation and programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and others.

Generally the actual providers of the care are private businesses such as Clinics and Labs and Diagnostic centers, and hospitals. Some of those are NGO, but others are simply businesses. Some are paid through private insurance and some through government “insurance”.

All of those entities need to lobby for regulatory matters, payment schedules, practice requirements, etc. and often the lobbying is done through professional associations such as the AMA. Below is another somewhat niche professional association called Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.

ABMP’s Government Relations Department advocates on behalf of our members for reasonable regulation of the massage therapy profession in all 50 states. We keep our members informed about proposed legislation and regulations and let them know how to get involved in the process and have their voices heard.

GPT says:

“The U.S. healthcare professional association universe is approximately 4,200 core professional societies, with a practical stakeholder-mapping universe of 5,000–7,000 organizations when disease-focused societies, state/local chapters, subspecialty groups, and adjacent healthcare professional associations are included.”
