Open AI GPT users are getting access to a reportedly much improved model: GPT6 Astra.
As often occurs with new improved versions, there’s a lot to unpack in terms of “what’s different” and “how to use the new version”. Below was prepared by GPT6 Astra HIGH in response to a PSA focused query asking for a comprehensive guide and reference for using the new version. It’s only 32 pages long!
Hopefully some things that didn’t work in the previous version are now fixed, but inevitably GPT6 will have new problems to cope with. Open AI makes changes all the time in their products AFTER release, so that will require some attention as well.
One might characterize the OpenAI model releases as in some ways a “Beta Test“….they “throw us one release version” to see what happens. And then they keep doing other iterations of that version behind the scenes (with no notice to users unless we search for it and often the new model isn’t aware of the changes!)
Consequently these versions/ iterations are very challenging to stay “on top of”. But that’s life in the fast lane of AI development.
There’s also some foreshadowing of future UI challenges for OpenAI.
OpenAI is building their user interface “as they go”, and partly to meet the needs of their forthcoming wearable AI device designed by Ives. (and reportedly 400 former Apple Employees hired by OpenAI.)
