Clearly the Frontier model giants like Anthropic and OpenAI have failed their perhaps most pressing need: educate the populace on why AI is a good idea.

Even when directly asked by Bloomberg recently, Altman couldn’t answer the “what is AI good for” question, other than noting new science discoveries, and vague references to “abundance”.

(note in the report below that Altman has “answered” the question numerous times in previous essays and posts, but apparently the answers to that question are beyond him when doing soundbites on video.

Bill Gates did little better when asked to specify what the “common man” had to gain from AI. Gates again referenced “abundance” which seemed to mean everyone has so much of everything at reduced costs that employment income might be more or less beside the point. (also see previous PSA posts with Gates Interview and also Shapiro’s Post Labor Economics).

Gates has also articulated his answer in written form quite well, but again, it seems that creating soundbites that work is a bridge too far. Maybe it’s too hard to do, or maybe Altman and Gates etc just need better slogans?

Currently MUSE by Zuckerberg’s META is rapidly gaining popularity as an easy to use Multiple Agent AI, which is showing for some: “oh this is what this is good for”. (GPTAstraHigh report for PSA below Contains numerous useful “takes” and ideas with 64 sources noted)
